Please note that a letter of notification for non-compliance will be sent to the legally responsible party representing the property. See each topic, below, for the number of days the notice letter allows remedial action to occur before the citation fee is enforced.


Topic #1 - Unkempt Vacant Lot (Nuisance)
The department makes vacant lot inspections periodically, checking for compliance with Town ordinance. See PART II, Sec. 11-16 through 11-22 of the Town of Kure Beach Code of Ordinances for all details pertaining to this ordinance. There is a $500 per lot, per occurrence, non-compliance citation fee if the 15-day notification letter from the inspector is not heeded.


Topic #2 - Garbage Carts Not Retrieved in Timely Manner
A garbage cart must be placed at property line no earlier than sunset the day before pickup and must be retrieved and placed next to property structure before midnight the day of pickup. See PART II, Div. II, Sec. 7-32 and 7-35 of the Town of Kure Beach Code of Ordinances for all details pertaining to this ordinance. There is a $50 per violation, per day, non-compliance citation fee if the 7-day notification letter from the inspector is not heeded.


Topic #3 - Placement of Freestanding Signs
Real Estate signs placed upon any property within the Town of Kure Beach shall be limited to one sign only. No real estate sign may be placed on the right-of-way of the Town of Kure Beach. Upon any violation of this ordinance, the Code Enforcement Officer is authorized to remove said sign. See PART II, Ch. 19, Art. VI, Sec. 19-373 (4) of the Town of Kure Beach Code of Ordinances for further details pertaining to this ordinance. There is a $50 per sign, per day, non-compliance citation fee if the 72-hour notification letter from the inspector is not heeded.
