During the Kure Beach Town Council meeting to be held at Town Hall on Tuesday, September 20th, to begin at 6:30 p.m. or soon thereafter, the mayor will read a proclamation in support of Constitution Week, on behalf of the Kure Beach Town Council. This Saturday, September 17th, marks the 229th anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention. Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States, designating September 17th through September 23rd as Constitution Week. All citizens are asked to reaffirm the ideals that the framers of the Constitution had in 1787, in honor of this occasion.
The Preamble reads as follows:
- We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
