KURE BEACH BUSINESS OWNERS

Commercial Building Permits
Until further notice, ALL Commercial Building Permits are being processed through New Hanover County. The New Hanover County Commercial Building Permit Application can be obtained either online through New Hanover County or through the Kure Beach Building Inspections Department. Completed applications need to be given to John Batson, Kure Beach Building Inspector. He will add set backs and other restrictions to the bottom of the permit application and will then sign off on the permit. The permit must be mailed, BY THE APPLICANT, to New Hanover County Inspections for verification.

New Hanover County requires five (5) sets of plot plans showing the structures with the setbacks. These will then get transferred to the permit card once they have passed inspection. Kure Beach Planning and Zoning Commission must sign off on plans prior to New Hanover County approving the application. New Hanover County will use Kure Beach Planning and Zoning Commission’s regulations along with the North Carolina Building Code in approving applications.

For smaller projects, New Hanover County has an expedited review process. Inspections can be completed within one (1) business day.

Commercial Garbage Collection
To set up service for Commercial Garbage collection come to or call Kure Beach Town Hall at 910-458-8216 and ask for Pat Fortier. She will need the physical address of your business and your mailing address, if different.


Garbage Collection for businesses is as follows:

  • During the summer months (in-season), garbage is collected on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • During the rest of the year (off-season), garbage is collected Monday and Friday

Commercial Water/Sewer
To set up service for Commercial Water/Sewer come to or call Kure Beach Town Hall at 910-458-8216 and ask for Pat Fortier. She will need the physical address of your business and your mailing address, if different.


Water/Sewer fees for businesses are as follows:

  • Water use up to 3,000 gallons is $16.50
  • Sewer use up to 3,000 gallons is $23.50
  • Water use exceeding 3,000 gallons is $3.70 per 1,000 gallons (calculated in increments of 100)
  • Sewer use exceeding 3,000 gallons is $3.70 per 1,000 gallons (calculated in increments of 100)

Privilege License - New
If you’re interested in getting a privilege license to do business in Kure Beach, you’ll need to fill out our Privilege License Application. Please mail the completed application to Town Hall, 117 Settlers Lane, Kure Beach, NC 28449. We will call you to give you additional information on how to complete the process, including the fee involved. You can also hand-deliver your application to Town Hall. If you’re unable to print this form, come to Town Hall and we’ll give you one to fill out. Please read our Steps for Obtaining a Business License for additional information. Privilege License - Renewal
If you already have a privilege license to do business in Kure Beach, you will receive a renewal application via mail at the beginning of June, annually. If your mailing address has changed, please contact Town Hall at 910-458-8216 with the current information so that you will receive your Notice of Renewal each year.
