Garbage Collection & Delays Due to Holidays
Garbage is collected every Monday for ALL of Fort Fisher Blvd, Atlantic Ave, Spotters Court and properties south of K Avenue, including the south side of K Avenue. Tuesday collection is for all other properties north of K Avenue, including the north side of K Avenue. The Code of Ordinances specifies that your Garbage Cart should be placed in front of your premises only after sunset on the day prior to pickup and must be returned to your home by midnight on the day of pickup.

Anytime a holiday falls on a garbage pickup day, garbage collection is pushed back by one day. The following holidays are observed by the Town of Kure Beach: Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Thursday & Friday and two days designated for Christmas holiday for Town employees.

**Please note that Waste Management picks up your RECYCLING on the same day as your regular garbage collection. However, Waste Management only observes Christmas Day as a holiday which may or may not interfere with your normal recycle pickup day. See Recycling Service, below, for more information.

License Tax (Decal)
We are often asked by our residents (temporary or permanent) why it is necessary to pay the annual License Tax in order to obtain a decal. To summarize part of the License Tax ordinance: each owner of a motor vehicle that displays a current NC license plate and who resides full-time within the town (temporary or permanent) shall pay an annual License Tax for each vehicle in the amount of $5.00 for which the resident will receive a decal to affix to his/her vehicle. If the decal is not purchased by March 31st, a $10 penalty will be charged in addition to the License Tax, for a total of $15. Any person who violates this ordinance shall be subject to a civil citation in the amount of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the first offense, and the second offense shall subject the person to a misdemeanor charge. For all non-resident owners and all new residents, the decal is available at the cost of $5.00 year-round.

Decals by mail - The License Tax to purchase a decal may be paid by mailing a copy of the vehicle registration, the vehicle owner's name, the Kure Beach property address, a check for the appropriate amount and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Decal Department, Kure Beach Town Hall, 117 Settlers Lane, Kure Beach, NC 28449.

RECYCLING INFORMATION FROM WASTE MANAGEMENT

ACCEPTABLE/UNACCEPTABLE RECYCLE ITEMS
Waste Management handles the Town's recycling pickup. All residences should have a recycle cart with yellow lid. Anything that will not fit into your cart will not be picked up by Waste Management. Do not leave overflow on the side of the cart for pickup. You should take all overflow recyclables to the New Hanover County Recycle Center, located at the Moose Lodge on Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington. See directions, below.

Waste Management will follow the same pickup schedule as your regular garbage pickup. Please note, however, that Waste Management works on all holidays except Christmas Day. Therefore, if Christmas Day falls on your normal recycle pickup day, recycle will be picked up the next business day. Waste Management will not vary its schedule otherwise. Your cart must be placed curbside by 7:00 am on the day of pickup or there is no guarantee your recycling will be disposed of.

If your recycle cart becomes damaged or lost, please fill out this Recycle Cart Form, bring or mail it to Kure Beach Town Hall and we will order a new cart for you from Waste Management.

Directions to Moose Lodge Recycle Dumpsters: After crossing Snow’s Cut Bridge, continue north until you come to Monkey Junction at the corner of Carolina Beach and College Roads. Take a left to continue on Carolina Beach Road. The Moose Lodge is approximately ½ mile ahead on your left.
