The Kure Beach Town Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, August 14th at 6:30 pm, or soon thereafter, in the Council Room at Town Hall.
The purpose is to have an informational session on the upcoming expansion and renovation of the existing town hall, police and fire buildings and construction of a new fire station. The traffic and parking pattern will also be redesigned to add spaces. This project is expected to begin in November and will require relocation of Administration, Finance, Building, Recreation and Police staffing and the closing of the Town Hall and the Police Building during construction. Fire personnel will remain in their current location during this time. Completion is expected to take 12 - 18 months. The estimated budget is $3 million for the new fire station and $2 million to expand Town Hall and renovate the existing Police and Fire building for use by the Police Department.
Current facility buildings were constructed in the 1990s. Since that time, staff has more than doubled, the demand for services has increased with the growth of population and state requirements have increased needs for space for evidence and document retention.
All interested persons are encouraged to attend.
