To our home owners and citizens of Kure Beach,
The current fiscal year ends on June 30,2018, and we will be entering a new fiscal period. The Town Council has completed a review of Department Head needs to maintain the service and quality that we all expect. I am happy to report that all have done their job and have cut their requested expenses as directed by Council and consistent with the Council Goals developed in our initial retreat meetings.
There are two primary areas of budget, the general fund from which most costs are supported and the enterprise fund, which by law must cover its expenses. We have prepared a balanced budget, anticipating needs for each department and the new construction to prepare our town for the future. We will bring in exactly what we believe is necessary and are not using any other funding or fund balance to fill requirements. This budget does contain a tax increase of $0.045 per hundred dollars of value strictly in support of funding for the new Fire Station and expansion of the Town Hall and Police Department.
The attached two charts will demonstrate the additional costs for a typical home with an average value of $350,000, considering both the county and town proposed tax rates.
