UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 AT 10 AM

FROM: Emergency Manager David Heglar and Mayor Craig Bloszinsky

The potential impact from Hurricane Florence remains catastrophic. All residents and property owners are advised to complete your evacuation by Wednesday evening.

The Town reminds all persons that choose not to evacuate that you are on your own. This is an ill-advised decision and Town officials advise you to reconsider. Plan for power outages exceeding seven days.

Beach front properties will have their water turned off by the Town beginning at 2 pm today, Wednesday, September 12.

The Town will provide updates at 8 pm and 8 am throughout the storm via the Town’s website and this email notification.

Access the New Hanover County Emergency Management website at emergencynhc.com for updates or call the county hotline at 910-798-6800.

CURFEW is in effect at 9 pm tonight, Wednesday, September 12 and remains in effect throughout the storm until public access has been restored. During curfew, remain on your property. Curfew will be enforced by the Kure Beach Police Department. If the forecast for the storm occurs, curfew enforcement will be augmented by the North Carolina National Guard.

Stay safe in your travels and stay tuned for updates.
