SEEKING VOLUNTEERS TO CLEAN THE BEACH THIS SATURDAY, MARCH 16th
In the next week or two, beach nourishment will begin here in Kure Beach. Over the last few weeks there has been an unusual amount of old and odd trash deposited on our beaches due to the beach nourishment activity on-going in Carolina Beach. The Shore Line Access and Beach Protection committee is seeking volunteers to participate in a beach sweep this coming Saturday prior to the start of our own beach nourishment project. Trash buried by sand in the course of the beach nourishment will surface periodically over the next few years during the normal course of beach erosion. What we can clean up now will help keep our beaches cleaner over the course of the busy summer season.
If you would like to help keep our beaches clean and safe, please go to your favorite access point starting at 9 am on Saturday and spend as little as 30 minutes walking, picking up trash and enjoying our beautiful beach. Please deposit the trash in or at the trash containers at each access point and the Town will remove it from there. If needed, trash bags and gloves can be picked up at the access point across from the Ocean Front Park and at the E Avenue parking lot access.
