Announcing the 2013 Special Olympics Polar Plunge

Kure Beach is pleased to support the 2013 Special Olympics Polar Plunge to be held at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk (next to the Courtyard Marriott) on Saturday, February 23rd from 11:00 am - 3:30 pm. NHC Special Olympics is looking for 10 adult volunteers to help from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm with the Polar Plunge & Pooch Plunge; no plunging required. Festivities include live music, art, food, a silent auction, classic car show and much more. Take a plunge with your pooch, a friend or plunge with an athlete. To plunge, you must raise a minimum of $50 (students $30-school ID required). You can plunge as an individual or as a team. Teams must have at least five plungers and each plunger must raise at least the minimum amount. Come in a costume to add more fun and enter the costume contest that begins at 1:30 pm.

New this year, will be the 1st Annual Run-N-Plunge 5K race; registration for the race begins at 9:00 am with the race beginning at 10:00 am. Gates open for Polar Plunge festivities at 11:00 am with the plunge beginning at 3:00 pm.
