Kure Beach officials met at 2:00 p.m. today, October 7th, to be briefed on the course of Hurricane Matthew. The following updates/changes will be made to the town’s emergency actions, as follows:
TOWN HALL CLOSURE
Kure Beach Town Hall is following the same closing schedule as New Hanover County Government and will close at 3:00 p.m. today.
While a Voluntary Evacuation stands for all residents and homeowners, A MANDATORY EVACUATION HAS BEEN CALLED FOR ALL VISITORS TO KURE BEACH, to be completed by 11:00 p.m.
The original curfew that was declared in the event of a power outage during the nighttime hours has been expanded to also include a curfew when, and if, the Snow’s Cut Bridge closes.
Tropical storm or hurricane force winds are expected during the early morning hours on Saturday (between 3:00AM-5:00AM). The bridge will close when winds are sustained at 45 mph.
