IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE EMERGENCY MANAGER

Residents, Visitors and Property Owners,

Hurricane Isaias is forecast to impact Kure Beach beginning on Monday, August 3, 2020. The Town of Kure Beach has declared a State of Emergency for this storm effective on July 31, 2020.  All Town Departments have completed or are nearing completion of their respective required preparations. Residents, Visitors and Property Owners should be completing their preparations today and no later than tomorrow afternoon.

The Council will be meeting tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. to determine evacuation levels and will communicate them following that meeting.  Everyone should be preparing to respond to these in order to be in a safe place prior to the storms arrival.

Due to the timing of the storm the Trash and Recycling pickup will not occur on Monday or Tuesday. Please ensure that your trash and recycling containers are secured during your storm preparations. Following the storm, the town will reschedule these as soon as possible based on the storm’s impact to the town.

Please review your personal hurricane plan and act accordingly. With this storm’s current track and speed it will be here sooner than you may think and now is the time to complete your preparations.

Continue to closely monitor the storm, communications from New Hanover County and the Town of Kure Beach for updates.

Very Respectfully,

David W. Heglar, PE

Emergency Manager
