WEATHER UPDATE
The latest update from the National Weather Service and New Hanover County (9/2/10 @ 11:00 am) states the following: TROPICAL STORM WARNING IN EFFECT.
Our coast is expected to feel winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph sometime later this afternoon or early evening. Rainfall is expected to be a quarter inch to one inch in the Wilmington area. Wave heights could reach 12'-14'' (feet) along our coastline. Stay out of the water; dangerous rip currents have formed. Don't forget to secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, signs, etc., that might get blow around and cause damage to yours and your neighbors' homes. Continue to stay tuned to local news or to The Weather Channel for updates. If all goes well, it looks like it's going to be a beautiful weekend at Kure Beach. We hope to see you soon!
RECENT ORDINANCE CHANGES
SECTION 2-161: Surplus Property
SECTION 15-163: Single Family Attached Resident Dwellings
In a cooperative effort with the Sunny Point Military Ocean Terminal, the town has created an informative brochure regarding deer which includes information on health & safety concerns and ways to deter deer from entering your neighborhood. If you're unable to print from your computer, please come to Town Hall to pick up a copy.

TENNIS COURTS @ JOE EAKES PARK
CLOSED FOR RENOVATION
Pardon our dust while the town renovates the tennis courts at Joe Eakes Park with all new surfaces and lighting. Unfortunately, the old courts were too uneven to resurface, so they are getting a major overhaul. Things should be open and back to normal by the third full week in September. We'll keep you posted!
NEW HOURS OF OPERATION
JOE EAKES PARK
Please note that the hours of operation for Joe Eakes Park's fields, playgrounds and other facilities are from Sunrise to Sunset, except for the tennis courts. When the tennis courts reopen, the operating hours for the courts will be from Sunrise to 11:00 pm.
BIG SWEEP ANNUAL BEACH CLEAN-UP
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 @ 9:00 AM

Anyone wishing to help clean our beach is asked to be at the Kure Beach Fishing Pier at the beginning of the event. Bring sturdy shoes, clothes that can get dirty, drinking water and sunscreen. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.
