TOWN OF KURE BEACH
ANNOUNCES GRANT AWARD
The Town of Kure Beach is pleased to announce that it is a recipient of the 2012 Community Waste Reduction and Recycling Grant. This grant is sponsored by the N. C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Assistance and Outreach.
The Town received a grant in the amount of $1,000 with a $200 cash match. The grant will be used to redesign and print 5,000 recycling brochures that Town committees initiated. Once printed, brochures will be distributed by the Town’s Beach Protection Committee and the Storm Water and Environmental Committee, Island Women and the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce. Kure Beach is fast becoming a “green” community through the efforts of its committees. Recycling containers are provided free of charge to all residential and commercial properties and the Town provides curbside recycling. The Town will also provide recycling containers at all the beach accesses this tourist season.
OCEAN FRONT PARK CONSTRUCTION HAS BEGUN
Construction on the Ocean Front Park is in full swing. The first priority is to get the beach crossover and boardwalk area completed and open for use. Please remember there is parking available on K Avenue, west of Fort Fisher Boulevard, and on E, F, G, H, I, J and N Avenues. We appreciate your patience during this time. Focus on how nice it will be to have a green space, walking path, benches and swings with that great ocean view.
