The Kure Beach Town Council is pleased to announce that the N.C. Clean Water Management Trust Fund awarded grant funding to the Town in the amount of $29,392.00.

The grant funds are for a study to determine the feasibility and cost to add additional storm water infiltration systems in either the dunes or beach access parking lots at E, F, G, H, I and J accesses. The Town currently has these systems at N, M, L and K Avenues and in the Ocean Front Park green space. The Town has been a forerunner in partnering with the N.C. State University Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and the Department of Transportation in treating the first one-half inch of rainwater with these infiltration systems that use sand to filter and remove bacteria and pollutants before the water drains into the ocean.
