The Town of Kure Beach has some new recreation classes on the horizon, as well as some fantastic ongoing programs. Below is a review of what's on the calendar for Fall 2017. Essential Oils DIY - Would you like to learn more about these Essential Oils you keep hearing about? Did you know that they are more than just a pleasant smell and that they can powerfully help to support your health and emotions? Come to this Essential Oils mini-class to learn, smell, taste and make your own Lip Balm, Lotion and Spray.

Mondays 6-7pm (8/21, 9/18, 10/16): $10 per person, includes all materials. Please RSVP via email 22TreasuresOils@gmail.com or text 910-785-OILS by the Thursday prior to each class.

Yoga - Carla Ann Drummond and Meg Young have teamed up to offer a variety of dynamic yoga classes at the Kure Beach Community Center! They're excited to offer "pay what you can" options and affordable class passes. Yoga classes are open to everyone and no pre-registration is required. Carla & Meg are both experienced & knowledgeable, 200 hour trained Yoga Teachers (RYT 200). You can find the class and other updates on Facebook at 'Kure Beach Yoga'.

Monday 6:30pm (begins 9/4): Hatha Yoga with Meg - Hatha yoga is accessible to all levels. This class emphasizes on building strength, flexibility, and balance by moving through a sequence of postures focusing on alignment and the breath. For your inspiration and enjoyment, a variety of musical playlists will accompany you through this practice. This class is *pay what you can*!

Mondays 9:15am (begins 8/28): Yoga Fusion - Carla combines Pilates & Yoga into a strengthening, stretching, core toning & stress reducing class. Infused with creative Yoga sequencing & breath work, along with the core focus of Pilates postures and great music - this high energy class is sure to get your week started off right! Beginners welcome! 1 hour. $10 drop-in or buy a class pack and save.

Mondays and Wednesdays 10:30 am (begins 8/28): Stretch and Restore Yoga - Carla guides this class of mostly seated postures & stretches that are combined with breathwork, guided relaxation and meditation for a lovely way to de-stress, heal and recharge. All-Levels! 1 hour. $10 drop-in or buy a class pack and save.

Wednesday 6:30pm (begins 8/30): Reggae Yoga Flow and Relax! This Kure Beach favorite is a great mid-week pick me up. Head to toe stretches, fun flowing yoga sequences and a short relaxation all set to an awesome Reggae playlist! Good vibes and cool people! 1 hour. This class is suitable for all levels and is *pay what you can*!

Line Dance – Classes pick back up on September 7th with instructor Elaine Stewart.

Thursday 10am: $1 per person, no registration required. All experience levels welcome!

Swing Dance – Coastal Elite presents a 5 week beginner swing dance course beginning August 31st. Each 2 hour class will consist of one hour of lessons followed by an hour of free dance. Live music will be performed each week by Baylee J and The Show.

Thursday 7pm: To register, contact Dane at coastalelite.nc@gmail.com. Prices for the entire 5 week course are as follows: $125 for an individual, $195 for couples, and $95 for students.

Hoop Dance – The Hoop Troop will continue to rock the Pavilion through November 1st. Drop in, dance to some great tunes, share tips and tricks, or start your own hoop journey with some new friends. Open to adults, 18 and up; no experience needed. Come get your hoop on!

Wednesday 7pm: Bring your own hoop and drop in for $5, loaner hoops available to get you started.

Yoga – Only 2 weeks left to join instructor Tamara Cairns for Sunrise Ocean Flow Yoga. Make Thursday morning special with an all levels oceanfront yoga practice. Sand, Sun, & Sea unite with Body Mind, & Soul.

Thursday 7:30am: $10 per class - $2 mat rental fee, if needed. No registration required.


Tennis – Instructor Buck Thomas returns with a Fall Tennis Clinic beginning on September 11th. He offers a class for all skill and age levels. The cost is $50 per session and each session includes 5 classes. A minimum of 3 students is needed for each class to run.
