There is currently a fraudulent scam being disseminated against the residents of Kure Beach. Individuals claiming to be with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office are calling residents and informing them they owe money for failures to appear in the court system. This is a scam and is not legitimate. No law enforcement agency is going to contact citizens and ask for monetary payments of any type. If you are contacted by the scammers, please do not provide them with any information or agree to make any type of payment. Please contact the Kure Beach Police Department at (910) 458-7586 if you believe you are a victim of a scam.
