WATERCOLOR CLASSES RETURN TO KURE BEACH IN JANUARY

WEEKLY CLASSES IN WATERCOLOR

Date: Tuesday, January 7th through Tuesday, January 28th

Time: 1-3pm

Location: Kure Beach Community Center

Objective: Instruction in the basic techniques of Watercolor – composition, color compliments, watercolor techniques (using salt, washes, masking, other effects), Students will first work on paiting techniques in step-by-step fashion, then work on a painting of their choice with coaching feedback

Age: Adults who want to have fun! (and teens serious about art!)

Skill Level: Any level, just a desire to learn a new style of Watercolor, or improve your style. Beginners welcome!!

Techniques: Step-by-step painting of a scene to learn basics, then advance to still life and individual paintings. Class critiques, demos, lots of time to work on individual paintings…

Materials Needed : (Please purchase supplies prior to class)

  • Watercolor Paper - block if possible, large size - approximately 16x12, 140lb at least or 300gm paper
  • Watercolor Brushes - good quality, smooth and flat as well as round brushes (one flat 1 inch brush essential)
  • Paints - good quality watercolor tubes
  • Palette - large area for mixing
  • Sketchbook - large, same as paper size
  • Miscellaneous Supplies - pencil, ruler, graphite pencil, kneaded eraser, paper towels, water containers, tape, salt, old toothbrush, masking fluid -optional (approximately $50 per student)

Cost: $100 for 4 weeks ($25/per 2 hour class)
