DEDICATION OF NEW HISTORICAL MARKER IN KURE BEACH

Dedication and unveiling of the historical marker at Kure Beach, noting the German U-Boat attack on the Ethyl-Dow plant in July 1943 during World War II. The dedication will take place on Thursday, March 12, 5:00 p.m., at the Kure Beach Ocean Front Park on Atlantic Avenue.

The marker placement is an America 250 World War II Wilmington activity of the WWII Wilmington Home Front Heritage Coalition. These activities, which began in May 2025, are recognizing and promoting Wilmington’s designation as America’s first WWII Heritage City.
