IMPORTANT BEACH TRASH CANS UPDATE

The Public Works Department has reviewed the garbage collection programs of the town of Kure Beach and the following change to the program has been approved by Town Council for 2025:

On beach collection during the visitor season – April – November will be eliminated. The beach cans will not be added this year.  Additional cans will be added at each Public Beach access in the parking area to support the addition requirements for visitors and at Public Beach accesses at the entry point.

Signage at the beach side of the access will highlight that cans are available in the parking area.  This matches what all other beaches in the area have been doing for the past few years.  This change results in labor savings to Public Works of 20 hrs. per week, reduced costs of vehicles on the beach and elimination of a significant safety hazard to employees by allowing the use of lift assists on this workload vs manual lifting of waste.  Pickup will occur during the season on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday as it has in the past.
