Citizens of Kure Beach,
MOTSU (Sunny Point) will continue their controlled burn this week (March 2-March 5) in both Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The burning is expected to begin around 9AM and end around 3PM each day. They expect to burn around 100 acres this week(see map below). Although the winds are expected to blow East throughout the week, expect a moderate amount of smoke in the area all day and lingering into the weekend. The prescribed burning will take place in several zones, and is planned to be conducted in a north to south CB to KB) manner if time and conditions allow. We don't expect road closures, and the disc golf course and park will remain open.
