Kure Beach Citizens,
Road conditions improved during the day, however with the low temperatures and amount of snow on the road the roads will definitely be dangerous in the evening and early morning hours. Please avoid driving if at all possible unless absolutely necessary, as emergency response will be inhibited by these conditions. Attempting to drive will result in abandoned vehicles and having to walk home.
Below is a request from Duke Energy, please look around your homes and turn off unnecessary electrical loads. This could be not required outside lights, refrigerators and freezers in garages and any other not required electrical loads to ensure that Duke does not be forced to temporarily turn off power to us and our neighbors. Every electrical load that you turn off tonight helps all of us maintain heat through this event:

Remember, Town Hall will be closed Monday, February 2, 2026 This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of Town staff and residents.
There will be no garbage pickup until further notice. Residents are asked to keep containers secured and off the roadways until normal operations resume. Recycle services are currently running a day behind. Updates regarding the resumption of services will be provided as conditions improve.
Finally, please stay safe and make good decisions for your families. Our emergency responders are standing by and will respond, but by making good decisions, you help both your family and by them having them respond.
