MOTSU (Sunny Point) will continue their controlled burn today (3/25/26) in Kure Beach. The burning is expected to begin around 9AM and end around 3PM today. They expect to burn around 102 acres today (see map below). Although the winds are expected to blow East throughout the day, expect a moderate amount of smoke in the area all day and lingering into tomorrow. The prescribed burning will take place in two separate zones, with the potential for a third zone if time and conditions allow.
