MEDIA ALERT: CYCLE NC CANCELS SATURDAY EVENTS; WEEKLONG RIDE ENDS ON FRIDAY

Friday, October 10, 2025  - MEDIA ALERT: Please be advised that Cycle NC organizers have made the decision to end the weeklong bicycle tour on Friday, a day early, due to the forecast of inclement weather on the coast. Kure Beach will welcome hundreds of cyclists this Saturday, October 11, as the Cycle North Carolina Mountains to Coast Ride reaches its final destination at Fort Fisher State Historic Site.

Cyclists will begin arriving in town around 11:00 AM and will continue throughout the afternoon as they complete their week-long, 466-mile journey from Lake Lure to Fort Fisher.

To accommodate the event, Battle Acre Road in Fort Fisher will be closed from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Please use caution and patience while traveling through the area, as there may be traffic delays throughout the day.

Passing through Kure Beach and into Fort Fisher marks the end of this year’s Cycle North Carolina Mountains to Coast Ride — a statewide tradition promoting fitness, fun, and the beauty of North Carolina’s communities. Help us celebrate the riders as they finish their incredible cross-state ride!
