IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE EMERGENCY MANAGER

Kure Beach Residents, Property Owners and Visitors:

New Hanover County and Kure Beach Emergency Management continue to monitor Tropical Storm Imelda.  As of this morning at 11:00 am forecast show it turning east and reducing the threat to Kure Beach. Rain and wind impacts are reduced, however high sea state and erosion are still a threat. Please use caution when being on the beach over the next few days.

Our recycle vender ran per their normal schedule, and will continue their normal schedule tomorrow. We recognize for those addresses that have Monday pick up it has caused a problem. We apologize for any inconvenience and they will pick up as normal next week. For Tuesday pick up locations, please have your recycle cart out for pick up tomorrow.

TRASH PICKUP is DELAYED until Wednesday (South of town) and Thursday (North of town) to allow Public Works personnel to focus on any Storm Water system issues with the projected significant rain.  ENSURE that your trash cans are secure to prevent impact to local drainage and garbage blowing in the town with the winds.

Police and Fire are resuming normal operations. Town Hall will be operating normal schedule this week.

Ask your neighbors if they are signed up with our communication system and if not please direct them to sign up for both Kure Beach and New Hanover County Emergency Communications with the following links :

This will be the last update for this weather event. We hope to see everyone Friday at the end of summer Jazz Funeral!

Respectfully,
