Fort Fisher's Second World War
Fort Fisher State Historic Site's annual special event "Fort Fisher's Second World War" is this coming Saturday, October 4 @ 10am - 4pm! Here are the key things to know about the program before you go:
1. General Admission is free! No prior registration needed. Site maps with program locations will be available at the Information Desk.
2. Come prepared! Be sure to bring sunscreen, bug spray, and water bottles. Other drinks must remain outside the visitor center.
3. The visitor center and main parking lot will be open from 9am - 5pm. Carpooling is recommended!
5. The WWII vehicle convoy will drive through Kure Beach at 9am before returning to the green at 10am. Spectators may gather at Fort Fisher along U.S. 421 to view the convoy’s arrival or departure.
5. WWII Weapons Demonstrations will be held at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm along the Tour Trail near the Garrison Garden.
6. Make this a fun event for the whole family! Educational activities will let people of all ages put their hands to history and express creativity.
7. A new book, “Fort Fisher During WWII: Civil War Icon Revisited,” will be available for purchase in the Gift Shop!

*KB Residents and Visitors - please note the WWII vehicle convoy will be driving through Kure Beach between 9-10am on Saturday. They will travel north on Fort Fisher Boulevard, turn right on East K Avenue, left on Atlantic Avenue, left on East L Avenue, then left back onto Fort Fisher Boulevard heading south. KBPD will be assisting at L Avenue/Fort Fisher Boulevard. You may experience travel delays if traveling along this route during the time of the convoy. We thank you in advance for your patience.
