This year the Island of Lights New Year’s Celebration makes its return to Kure Beach. The festivities will be held at Ocean Front Park and along Atlantic Avenue starting at 9 pm on Wednesday, December 31st. This free, family-friendly event will feature a DJ and dancing, with refreshments and party favors available for purchase. In an Island of Lights tradition, there will be a raffle for the original artwork for the Island of Lights official Christmas card and ornament. You won't want to miss the giant lighted beach ball being dropped at midnight followed by a spectacular fireworks demonstration. Bring the family to Kure Beach Ocean Front Park at 9 pm to join the fun!
Road/Beach Closures: K Avenue east of Fort Fisher Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue between K and L Avenues will be closed for the entirety of the day on Wednesday, December 31st as the Town prepares for the event. The beach strand between beach access #110 and beach access #130, as well as beach access #120, will be closed from the late afternoon through the duration of the event for the fireworks safety perimeter.
