HOLIDAY EVENTS THIS WEEKEND

HAPPY HOLIDAYS KURE BEACH!

As we get ready for the final weekend before Christmas, the Recreation Department wanted to share a quick update about the food and toy drives. The food drive for the local food bank, Help Center continues through Friday. We will be delivering all the collected food and monetary donations Monday morning. Our November delivery consisted of a full truck bed of food and $1,500+ in cash, checks, and Food Lion gift cards. If you still wish to donate, you can do so at Town Hall today through Friday between the hours of 9am-1pm and 2:30-5pm. If you can't make it by Town Hall, we will also be collecting donations at Friday evenings Holiday Whoobie Whatty.

Our toy drive for Toys for Tots concluded Monday and we sent them off with 3 overflowing collections boxes of toys, along with multiple bags of stuffed animals, and $600 in monetary donations. Thank you for supporting both of these organizations again this year!

This weekend we've got our last few Christmas themed events - the Holiday Whoobie Whatty on Friday and Holiday Story Time by the Sea on Saturday. Details below.

HOLIDAY WHOOBIE WHATTY

Don your best Whoville attire and join us for a Grinch-themed celebration. The evening kicks off with the announcing of the 2025 Kure Beach Cheermeister, followed by a viewing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. While the film is playing, you can visit different stations setup throughout the park for face painting, Grinch crafts, cookie decorating, and photos with the Grinch. Free popcorn and hot chocolate will be available compliments of Kure Beach First Baptist Church. Leo's Pizza Food Truck will be on site selling their delicious pizza. This event is free to attend, but the Town will be collecting donations for the Help Center of Federal Point.

A very special THANK YOU goes out to our 2025 Event Sponsors: Renewal by Andersen, Civic Federal Credit Union, Publix, and Kure Beach First Baptist Church. We would also like to thank our friends from the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher for volunteering their time to help us at this event.

As a reminder, Atlantic Avenue between K and L Avenues will be closed to vehicle traffic for the day on Friday.
