MEMBER NEEDED FOR PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

The Town of Kure Beach is seeking a new member for the following Commissions:

Planning & Zoning Commission - Alternate Member 

The Planning and Zoning Commission meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall. The Commission is responsible for: Preparation, amendment and revision of the Zoning and Subdivision ordinances and Land Use Plan as related to the physical development of the area. The preparation and recommendation to the Town Council of ordinances promoting orderly development along the lines indicated in the Land Use Plan.

Historic Preservation Commission - Full Member 

The Historic Preservation Commission meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall. The HPC's purpose is to safeguard the heritage of the Town of Kure Beach (“Town”) by preserving important elements of its culture, history, and architecture and by promoting the use and conservation of the District for the education, pleasure and enrichment of the residents of the Town, the region, and the State. To find out about the HPC's powers, duties, organization, etc. please see Chapter 12 (12.03.040). The HPC is composed of seven Kure Beach residents (required to live within the corporate limits of the Town) who have a knowledge and interest in historic preservation. The HPC reviews and regulates changes to the exterior appearance of buildings in the Historic District.
