End of Season Staffing
Our Ocean Rescue Lifeguards are committed to keeping all beachgoers safe year-round. This time of the year, we begin to experience a reduction in our staff as college students and high schoolers head back to school. For the remaining few weeks of the official lifeguard season, there may be periods of time in which some lifeguard towers are not sat for the final few weeks. This is completely normal and expected. These towers will be designated with a black flag. We remain committed to keeping all areas of the beach covered and will do so with a mixture of lifeguards at high volume towers and roaming 4x4s that are strategically spread out. As always, please use caution when entering the water at all times.
Beach Rescue Bouys
We also recently placed green rescue buoys at all 25 public beach accesses. Although we do not encourage untrained swimmers to enter the water, these buoys provide simple directions to improve emergency response to those in need, as well as a location for those that are unaware of where they are at, and a floatation device. These will remain on the beach throughout the entire year at all 25 public accesses.
Post Season Staffing and Lifeguard Tower Removal
Following the official lifeguard season which ends on Labor Day, we will continue to have (2) lifeguards on beach patrol from the hours of 12pm-8pm until October 1st. We may have a few guards on patrol into the month of October if the ocean conditions require them, especially on fair weather weekends that are mixed with tropical swells and rip currents. We will also remove the lifeguard towers from the beach within the first couple of weeks of September following Labor Day.
