Kure Beach Residents and Visitors,
Current forecasts for the impact from Hurricane Isaias expect rain this weekend. The storm is forecasted to pass roughly 500 miles to our west on Saturday night as a post Tropical Storm/Depression. Rain amounts in the area are expected to be 2"-4" with possibilities of higher localized amounts. The heaviest rain is expected Saturday through Sunday morning. Otherwise, impacts are expected to be minor coastal and riverine flooding with each high tide, and a high surf advisory.
From the Town Staff:
- Public Works will be ensuring that all Storm water systems are clear and prepared for this event. As a resident, you should ensure that your yards have no debris that could block a local stormwater drain and cause backups in your area. Utilize the Public Works emergency call in phone this weekend if any issues are noted. The number for the Public Works Emergency is 910-458-5816.
- Fire Department - The Town no longer has lifeguards on duty. With the high surf advisory, please utilize caution over the weekend in the ocean. If an issue is observed, call 911 and the Kure Beach Fire Department will respond. At each beach access there are green rescue buoys that could be used to be to assist the person, but if you are not trained in ocean water rescue you should not endanger yourself by going into the water.
Have a great weekend and thank you.
