The Kure Beach Community Center Committee will host a free Medicare information session onThursday, November 5 at 7:00 PM at the Kure Beach Community Center. The presentation will be led by staff members from SHIIP — the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program, a division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
With Medicare’s annual open enrollment period underway, the session is designed to help both new retirees and current Medicare participants understand their options and make informed decisions before the enrollment deadline. SHIIP counselors will provide an overview of Medicare Parts A, B, and D, explain the differences between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, and highlight updates for 2027. The presentation will also offer practical guidance for evaluating changes to existing coverage.
SHIIP’s mission is to provide Medicare beneficiaries with free, unbiased education and assistanceso they can make informed health insurance choices. Unlike insurance agents or plan representatives, SHIIP counselors do not sell products; their role is to help individuals understand their options and choose the coverage that best fits their needs.
The event will include a question‑and‑answer period, giving attendees the opportunity to receive personalized guidance from trained SHIIP staff. The program is free and open to the public, and no RSVP is required.
The Kure Beach Community Center is located at 118 N. 3rd Avenue. For additional information about SHIIP, visit the North Carolina Department of Insurance website.
